Know Who You Are!

Updated: Nov 23, 2021

We’re in a generation where if something is not “trending” on social media it’s fake. Be it an outfit, shoes hair even body weight height color appearance all these things are being weighed on scales of fellow individuals who apparently have a platform where they are recognized or just have a huge crowd that looks up to them known as social media influencers.

The intensity I’m trying to talk about is that we have reached a point where a lot of pressure and anxiety is that is on people just so that they can be like somebody they saw on Instagram or just so that they can be like that popular celebrity on Twitter or Facebook or somebody they watched on TV.

People are literally smearing their skins with different products to change their color, doing all these sorts of plastic surgeries for bigger features on their bodies or to change their original nature and wearing uncomfortable attires in the name of trying to find happiness and confidence.. but is it really?

Research shows that Individuals with anxiety, particularly social anxiety, are very fearful of being judged and being criticized can feel like being under attack in a war zone!

And social media is very impactful in this case. Some influencers and icons criticize anything different or that makes them personally uncomfortable and they are unable to pull off.

It’s like “If you are this size, then we don’t want you here or this height is not cool or if you’re this color you’re not beautiful” just because it’s different!

Sadly this comparison has crept into the Church too. We see Christians who are supposed to lead an exemplary life of Contentment in their identity comparing themselves to the people of the world.

You see a Christian adopting certain things that are contrary to the purpose he has been ordained to. We can’t blame them because they are probably asking the same question that Jeremiah asked God

You are right, O God, and you set things right.

I can’t argue with that. But I do have some questions:

Why do bad people have it so good?

Why do con artists make it big?

You planted them and they put down roots.

They flourished and produced fruit.

They talk as if they’re old friends with you,

but they couldn’t care less about you.

Meanwhile, you know me inside and out.

You don’t let me get by with a thing! (Jer. 12:1-4 MSG )

Now before I show you what God’s say is about this. We must come to the understanding that we (the Just) live by Faith which means we believe in God’s promise concerning our lives and we stand strong in what He says…

God answered Jeremiah,

So, Jeremiah, if you’re worn out in this footrace with men,

what makes you think you can race against horses?

And if you can’t keep your wits during times of calm,

what’s going to happen when troubles break loose

like the Jordan in flood?

Which means that God answered him that “If this has shaken you then what if a worse thing comes?

How will you manage?

Will you still believe that I am faithful to my Promise if you keep on admiring every thing that passes you by even when you know it’s vanity?

As my Papa always says, There’s no easier Way there are only Harder Believers!

I am not saying limit yourself to only that which you have in your physical because you fear to compare yourself least they say you’re coveting.

All I’m trying to say is that Godliness with Contentment is great gain. This only means that a friendly competition is not bad as it will boost your morale to high performance but in this competition have the contentment of your identity In God.

In that business, yes you have competitors but even in their rise be contented that greater is He who is in You than those that are in the World and He says He’ll prosper you and Multiply you and supply you with all your needs! That’s already far above your competitors.

In that career have the contentment that he has made you the Head and not the tail. He has made you above ONLY! and not beneath (Duet 28:13) and that your path is shining brighter and brighter unto a perfect day.

When you our walking on the street. Yes you find a beautiful lady passing smile and move in the contentment that You are fearfully and Wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14), the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus! (1 Cor 5:21)

God expects you to know that you are above those “influencers” or people that make you feel disqualified. He expects you to know that He created you in His very image. That’s way better than some guy you saw on TV. Never compare yourself to anyone! Know Who You Are!

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. -2 Corinthians 3:18

Recently someone asked me a question, he said 'How do you see life?' Pondering through my panting after pulling through my last couple of lunges to finish my workout I paused, and before I responded h

The biggest gap between your goals and where you are now is execution. The world has been designed to develop a system that automatically plans a life for you if you don’t step in and do it yourself!
