Find Purpose!

At times you may have potential to do something but you don’t know how to start or you’re not sure how you’re going to sustain the enthusiasm you feel you have for that thing…
For instance it may be going for a jog each morning or reading a book each day or even reading your Bible more often!
I found something that’s gonna boost your zeal and help you get on with what you ought to do!!
And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name. -1 Kings 5:5 KJV
When Solomon wanted to build the Lord’s temple the first thing he DID NOT do was to search out and understand the purpose of the temple… and as it was in the verses before, King David couldn’t fulfill his desire of building for the Lord a temple…not because he wasn’t able but because it wasn’t purposeful nor relevant at that time.
He was always at war and there was no peace in the land.. in simple terms It wasn’t the right time for it because he wasn’t settled.
God sought to first make peace in the land with the purpose of wholehearted service to Him when the temple is built! (Because seriously no body wants to fellowship with someone who’s always on the run!)
Solomon however felt that since there was no more “distractions” it was his time to shine.. and fulfill the long time dream of his papa in the thought that he was also fulfilling God’s promise upon his papa.
Of course he was eager and had felt he had the potential to build the temple.
Sometimes we want to do certain things in excitement without considering the commitment needed to sustain those things in particular.
Enthusiasm will become temporary if there’s no understanding of purpose!
Before you start something first sit down and write your the reason why you want to start it! This will not only help you sustain or maintain your zeal to do it but also it will help you understand the commitment and energy you need to put in. Find purpose in everything!
Consequence of not understanding the purpose of something is temporality!
I have a cousin brother who’s less than a year old and oh boy! He loves to grab everything that comes his path.. doesn’t matter what size or even what it is all he knows is that he wants it. He doesn’t know what to do with it, but he wants it! He doesn’t even know whether he can carry it but he wants it! He just feels the enthusiasm! And when he gets to it, In less that a minute he’s done with it!
Not because he doesn’t want it but he just found no use for it!
So I be guessing that in his head he’s thinking, “What’s this for anyway?!? There’s more fun stuff I can touch”
So he immediately looks for another. This goes on and on until maybe it’s bed time or snack time.
Even in our case study, Solomon later on turned away from the Lord.
For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father. -1 Kings 11:4 KJV
He didn’t really understand the purpose of the temple!
What am I trying to say?
Dear reader, if your inconsiderate of the purpose of whatsoever you’re wanting to do, you will always lose interest and zeal within a few times..
